12 Days of Business Planning – DAY 2: VALUES

On the 2nd day of Business Planning, my true love gave to me… VALUES!

Day One of YOUR 12 Days of Business Planning had you casting your VISION of success. Today, you identify your core VALUES.

So what are they? Core values are individual words that encapsulate your principles and guide your behavior, actions and DECISIONS you make in your business.  Great values set the tone for company culture, clarify what you stand for, and lay a foundation upon which challenging decisions can be made with consistency and confidence.

When working with our coaching clients, we have them review a comprehensive list of values and select those which resonate most. With that list, we have them dial in on their top five most important and create a clear description of what each value represents. If you’re working with a team, you can have each team member identify their own top five, and then combine everyone’s individual values to come up with what the top five are that the team has in common.

Once you have your team values, write out your definition of each of those core values so that anyone new coming to the team has a clear understanding of what you stand for!

STOP NOW and write down the top 5 core values you feel your company is based on and write out a description of what they each represent.

Make sure to look for Day 3, which will complete the 3rd key foundational step for your business.
