Motivational Moments – Grit

Grit is that mixture of passion and perseverance which drives people to achieve their long-term goals. People that have grit are often referred to as being mentally tough because they push through obstacles and difficult times despite being uncomfortable. As a predictor of success, grit trumps talent. People who have natural talent or sharp skills don’t necessarily have the passion and drive it takes to achieve their goals. Where people may lack in skills they can make up for in grit. Keep this in mind when you are hiring or growing your team. Skills can be taught, but finding someone with true grit can prove to be a very valuable asset as they are wired for success.
