The Magic of Peer Collaboration and Masterminding
We have all experienced the pain of feeling we’re alone. Depending on your own circumstances, that might mean you’re alone in deciding what product or service to launch next, what system to put in place to ensure consistent customer service, or even which office space to move into.
For some, it can be a paralyzing place to be. For others, and certainly in the case of many of the people we help at McLean International, they discover by sharing their challenges, ideas, and opportunities with a group of like-minded peers, they are able to move from paralysis to progress.
Collaboration and Masterminding, are the actions of learning together, working together to create or enhance something. There is a magic created when a group of peers start sharing ideas, and others chime in with possibilities to enhance the idea, help it evolve, and move it forward.
Follow these three steps to maximize your collaborations and bring success:
- Find your “people”. Who you collaborate with is critical to your progress and ultimate success. You need people who share the same desire to grow professionally and/or personally and will offer constructive input. In addition, those people need to be positive, forward-thinking, and vocal with their ideas. Now, ask yourself, are you willing to be constructive, positive, forward-thinking and vocal for them? Next, determine what type of group you want to be a part of that will elevate your game.
- Come prepared to share. Take time to prepare prior to your meeting with fellow participants. In order for masterminding to be successful, it’s important that you participate in learning and if you have something that you need feedback on ensure you give adequate data to your peers for them to understand the whole picture of what you’re contemplating. Be open minded and prepared to learn from your participants.
- Give as much as you get. The final key to successful masterminding is contribution. Your peers have given creatively and generously to your ideas and now it is your turn to give back. Make sure you’re listening with the intent of enhancing their ideas and moving them forward too. Also, remember if you don’t’ have anything truly of value to give, don’t feel you need to fill the air space with chatter.
Getting your business to the next level can be supported in many ways and a Mastermind Group and working in collaboration with others, could be just the magic your business needs!
